The ReGen4futures universe
It starts with the global movement of Generation ReGeneration. This is a community of people who no longer want to stand by and watch. They take responsibility for our world and strive for more than just sustainability - their goal is the active renewal of our social and ecological systems (regeneration).
Every single member of this movement is a ReGen.
The journey of every ReGen is characterized by the development of personal resilience. It follows the guiding principle "From Me to We": from individual responsibility to collective ability to act.
In order to follow this path successfully, the ReGens need a clear orientation. This orientation is provided by two concepts:
- The IDGs (Inner Development Goals) serve as an inner compass. They are the human abilities such as empathy and critical thinking that form the invisible but all-important foundation for every action.
- The SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) serve as an external map. They define the 17 globally recognized topics in which action must be taken.
In order to give the ReGens a concrete infrastructure for their journey, we have created the "Bridge to Action". It is only on this bridge that our holistic understanding of education comes to life. The bridge consists of:
- The five bridge pillars of the IDGs as a foundation.
- The 17 paths or "lanes" of the SDGs across the bridge.
- The three large, visible bridge towers that point the way: LEARN, CONNECT and ACT.
This entire bridge, with all its components, is a symbol for the ReGen.rocks digital platform. It is the concrete tool that the movement uses. On this platform, the learning process is brought to life through inspiring role models and the practical method of PBL (Project-Based Learning).
And who builds and maintains this entire infrastructure?
This is the ReGen4futures initiative. It is the organizational backbone that is supported by the non-profit KNE Sustainability Institute gGmbH. It is the "enabler" that gives the ReGeneration generation the tools to create a regenerative future.
To summarize in one sentence:
The ReGen4futures initiative, supported by the KNE Sustainability Institute, provides the movement - the ReGeneration generation - with the ReGen.rocks platform, a "bridge" whose towers Learn, Connect and Act rest on the foundation of the IDGs and the pathways of the SDGs, so that each ReGen can lead the way to regenerating our futures by developing responsibility and resilience.
ReGen4futures(.org) - The organization
ReGen4futures is the overarching name for the entire initiative. It acts as an umbrella brand that encompasses all parts of our work. When we talk about ReGen4futures, we mean the entire ecosystem: the movement, the people, the platform and the organization behind it. It is the name that summarizes our mission: to create regenerative futures for future generations.
Generation ReGeneration - The ReGen movement
Generation ReGeneration is the official, visionary name for the global movement itself. We also speak of the ReGen movement. It is not an age group, but a community of people united by a common attitude: the will not only to preserve our world, but to actively heal it. All ReGens, partners and supporters come together under this banner. The central call to become part of this movement is therefore: "Be the ReGeneration!".
ReGen - A member of the movement
ReGen is more than just a name - it is a personal identity. A ReGen is an active member of the global movement, a person who has chosen to walk the path across our "bridge to action". It is a commitment. Anyone who says "I am ReGen" is expressing that they are part of a community of changemakers who are actively committed to a regenerative future. The plural for several of these committed people is "ReGens".
ReGen.rocks - The bridge itself
ReGen.rocks - The real bridge from knowledge to action
ReGen.rocks is the specific name of the digital platform. It is the tool, the "operating system of change" that we are making available to the "ReGeneration generation". The platform is the place where everything happens: This is where learning takes place in the LEARN modules, this is where the ReGens network in the secure CONNECT community and this is where they find the tools and projects to take effective action in the ACT pillar. ReGen.rocks is the technical infrastructure that makes our vision a reality.
KNE Sustainability Institute gGmbH - The project management organization
The KNE Sustainability Institute is the official, legal and organizational foundation of the entire project. As a non-profit limited liability company (gGmbH) based in Berlin, the Institute is the formal project sponsor. It ensures professional implementation, bears financial and legal responsibility and creates the stable framework that enables the movement and the platform to grow and have a global impact.
The three pillars of ReGen.rocks - the three bridge towers
The ReGen.rocks platform is the digital infrastructure that makes our educational philosophy of the "bridge to action" a reality. We offer the right digital tools for every step on this bridge, organized in three visible and mutually reinforcing pillars.
1. LEARN: The foundation of knowledge
The LEARN pillar is the starting point of the journey and the answer to the flood of unstructured and often unreliable information on the web. Its aim is to provide every "ReGen" with a solid, accessible and motivating foundation of knowledge on the most pressing challenges of our time.
- Core function: Provision of high-quality, curated and co-created e-learning content based on the 17 UN SDGs and the 23 Inner Development Goals (IDGs).
- What it offers: A comprehensive e-learning system with courses, videos and interactive tools that is deliberately designed to work even with low Internet bandwidth and is free of charge for all young people worldwide.
2. CONNECT: The global community
The CONNECT pillar is the social heart of the movement. It was developed as a direct counter-design to the fragmented and commercially driven social networks. Its aim is to create a safe, global space in which "ReGens" can network to form a resilient community.
- Core function: Promoting global collaboration and the "From Me to We" idea through a secure, ad-free and algorithm-free social network.
- What it offers: Individual and organizational profiles, topic-based groups, forums and messenger tools to enable peer-to-peer support, mentoring and the formation of actionable teams.
3 ACT: The engine for impact
The ACT pill ar is the crucial final step on the bridge. It is designed to transform the knowledge acquired in the "Learn" pillar and the connections forged in the "Connect" pillar into tangible, real actions.
- Core function: Providing concrete tools and opportunities to initiate, manage and scale regenerative projects.
- What it offers: An "Opportunity Hub" with a job and internship exchange , a "Project Launchpad" for setting up your own initiatives and - crucially - putting you in touch with real projects to bring teenagers and young adults together with existing initiatives.
The combination of platform (Learn ➔ Connect ➔ Act) and philosophy (Responsibility, Resilience, Regeneration)
The three pillars of ReGen.rocks (Learn, Connect, Act) and the three core principles of the ReGen movement (Responsibility, Resilience, Regeneration) are inextricably linked. The pillars describe what the platform does, and the "three Rs" describe what happens in people while they are doing it.
1. LEARN ⇄ Responsibility
There is a self-reinforcing cycle here. An initial sense of responsibility is often the spark that motivates a young person to search for knowledge on the LEARN pillar. Conversely, this sense of responsibility is massively deepened and strengthened by the newly acquired knowledge about global connections (SDGs) and their own potential (IDGs). Knowledge and responsibility thus fuel each other.
The cycle of knowledge and responsibility
A dynamic, self-reinforcing cycle that is the actual start of the ReGen journey: The start of the ReGen journey: "I feel responsibility, so I want to learn."
A young person sees the world, feels a diffuse concern or a sense of injustice. This fundamental feeling of responsibility gives rise to an active desire to better understand the context. He or she comes to the LEARN pillar to give this feeling a knowledge base.
Reinforcement of the sense of responsibility: "I am learning, so my responsibility is growing."
In the LEARN pillar, the diffuse feeling becomes well-founded knowledge. The user understands the complexity of the SDGs and their own power to act through the IDGs. This new, in-depth knowledge reinforces and substantiates their original sense of responsibility. "I should do something" becomes "I now know what needs to be done and that I can do it".
To summarize:
Responsibility is both the spark that ignites the learning process and the fire that is fueled by the newly gained knowledge.
It is a dynamic cycle: an initial sense of responsibility drives us to the LEARN pillar, and what we learn there deepens and solidifies our responsibility, which in turn motivates us to learn even deeper and eventually connect with others.
2. CONNECT ➔ Resilience
Community creates resilience. The CONNECT pillar is the social heart that builds the necessary resilience for the long journey of change. Real change is full of setbacks and frustration. It's easy to give up on your own. By networking in the CONNECT community, "ReGens" realize: "I am not alone." This exchange creates the emotional and social safety net that makes resilience possible in the first place.
3rd ACT ➔ Regeneration
Action creates regeneration. Regeneration is not a passive state, but an active, creative process. It is the concrete work of healing and improvement. The ACT pillar is the engine that drives this work. This is where the knowledge and power of the community is translated into tangible, regenerative projects. Every action is a direct contribution to the regeneration of our social and ecological systems.
Summarized as a formula:
- Knowledge (Learn) and responsibility (Responsibility) reinforce each other.
- Community (Connect) leads to resilience.
- Action (Act) leads to regeneration.
Responsibility
In the context of ReGen.rocks, responsibility is the active process of recognizing one's own role as part of a global whole and accepting the consequences of one's own actions (or inactions). It is the crucial first step on the personal journey "From Me to We". Responsibility here means abandoning the passive attitude of the bystander and making the conscious decision to stand up as a creator for a regenerative future. It is the starting point on the path across the bridge.
Resilience
For us, resilience describes the ability of individuals and communities not only to survive in the face of crises and complex challenges, but to emerge stronger. At ReGen.rocks, we promote resilience by creating a "resilient community". Through mutual support, shared knowledge and the development of Inner Development Goals (IDGs), this community provides the social and emotional support that enables young people to cope with setbacks, learn from them and move on with unwavering optimism.
Regeneration versus sustainability
These two concepts form the core objective of our movement, with regeneration representing the decisive further development:
- Sustainability: Sustainability is the fundamental basis. It describes the goal of satisfying the needs of the present without jeopardizing the ability of future generations to satisfy their own needs. It is about maintaining balance and preventing further damage to our social and ecological systems.
- Regeneration: Regeneration goes a decisive step further. It is not enough for us to simply maintain the status quo - we want to actively heal, revitalize and improve the systems that are already damaged. Regeneration means giving back more than we take. It is the proactive process of restoring and enhancing the vitality and health of our ecosystems, communities and ourselves.
SDGs (the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals) - the highway over the bridge with 17 lanes
The SDGs are the global roadmap for our mission. They form the "what" of our work. On our "bridge to action", they represent the 17 thematic paths or "lanes" on which the ReGens can move. Whether it is climate action (SDG 13), clean water (SDG 6) or quality education (SDG 4), the SDGs provide a universally recognized, structured and legitimate framework for our actions.
IDGs (Inner Development Goals) - the 5 bridge pillars under the roadway
If the SDGs are the "what", then the IDGs are the decisive "how". They are the inner tool that is necessary for external change. The 5 main areas of Being, Thinking, Relating, Collaborating and Acting with the 23 inner skills, the IDGs - such as empathy, critical thinking, collaboration skills and self-awareness - form the 5 pillars of our bridge. We are convinced that complex global problems can only be solved by people who have these inner skills. That is why the IDGs are deeply integrated into our educational concept and community interactions.
PBL (Project-Based Learning)
Project-based learning is our central pedagogical method. We believe that sustainable and deep learning happens best when it is applied directly to real-world challenges. Instead of just learning about problems in the abstract, we empower ReGens to apply their knowledge to their own tangible projects. They learn by doing, by solving real problems in a team, by failing and by succeeding. PBL transforms passive consumers of knowledge into active creators of solutions.
Role models (role models)
Role models are the human spark that ignites motivation and inspiration. In the ReGen.rocks world, role models are diverse: they can be well-known personalities, but also an experienced "ReGen" who has successfully completed their first project, an NGO employee or a sustainable entrepreneur. Their stories, which we share on the platform, have a crucial function: they make abstract goals tangible and show that change is possible. They are living proof that every individual - no matter where they come from - can become an effective part of the "Generation ReGeneration".
FAQ
Frequently asked questions about ReGen4futures
What goals are we pursuing with ReGen4futures?
The main goal of ReGen4futures is to empower, connect and motivate people to act sustainably and regeneratively to tackle the challenges of our time. - Gaps in qualified education: Knowledge about sustainability and regeneration is often difficult to access or too complex.
What ReGen.rocks does: Provides curated content developed together with experts, comprehensible and based on the SDGs. - Isolation instead of community: Young people around the world often lack networks for exchange and collaboration.
What ReGen.rocks does: Builds precisely these networks and creates a dedicated space for the global ReGen community. - High barriers to action: The uncertainty about where and how you can really make a difference is great and often overwhelming.
What ReGen.rocks does: Provides clear paths and concrete opportunities for real engagement in projects, events and initiatives.
ReGen.rocks is therefore a unique, positive and solution-oriented platform that breaks down these barriers. Free and globally accessible, ReGen.rocks enables real engagement and empowerment for a regenerative future.
Why is education so important?
According to UNESCO, education is the greatest lever for sustainable development. This is exactly where ReGen.rocks comes in and brings this education into a digital, global and youth-friendly form.
What distinguishes ReGen4futures from traditional NGOs?
Many NGOs focus on specific projects or emergency aid. ReGen.rocks takes a step back and starts at the root: through early, empowering education. This creates the basis for young people to initiate and support projects themselves in the long term.
How is it ensured that the project is sustainable and can pay for itself?
We plan to achieve sustainability through a mix of funding, partnerships, donations and possibly the development of paid premium modules that generate additional revenue. In the long term, we aim to make the project self-sustainable by creating valuable, marketable educational products. The knowledge based on the SDGs will primarily be passed on to future generations, who still have many options open to them to shape their patterns of thought and action in a sustainable way and in the interests of the planet. This knowledge and the associated patterns should be passed on across generations.

The ReGen.rocks platform is based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) because they represent a globally recognized and comprehensive agenda for
sustainable development. By focusing on the SDGs, we ensure that with ReGen.rocks we are pursuing globally relevant, forward-looking goals that combine the ecological, social and economic aspects of sustainability and find broad acceptance and support in the international community.
We also build on the SDGs because they are not only globally relevant, but also easy to understand and visually well presented.
The clear and appealing presentation of the SDGs makes it easier to make complex sustainable development issues accessible to a broad audience and to convey their importance.
How are the SDGs integrated into the platform?
Are all SDGs treated equally worldwide or are there regional differences?
The communication of the individual SDGs varies depending on the region, as each region faces different economic, social and environmental challenges. In low-income regions, goals such as poverty reduction, hunger eradication and access to education can be particularly urgent. In more affluent regions, on the other hand, topics such as sustainable consumption, climate protection or innovation may be more important. Lessons are developed with the help of local teams and adapted to the respective region. In this way, each young person receives the individual education he or she needs to bring about positive change in their own environment.
Why does ReGen.rocks integrate the IDGs?
ReGen.rocks incorporates the Inner Development Goals (IDGs) because they promote the personal and social development of young people, which is necessary to successfully implement the SDGs. The IDGs focus on skills such as critical thinking, empathy, personal responsibility and the ability to work together.
By involving the IDGs, we ensure that not only external, structural changes are sought, but also the inner development of young people, which serves as the basis for sustainable action and long-term change. In this way, we pursue a holistic approach that strengthens both the individual and social prerequisites for achieving the SDGs.
What is behind the IDGs?
Behind the Inner Development Goals (IDGs) is a group of experts and organizations concerned with personal and social development and the promotion of sustainable change. The IDGs were developed by an international network of experts and practitioners, including psychologists, education experts, coaches and social scientists.
The IDGs are based on the findings of psychology, neuroscience and behavioral research, which show that inner factors such as mindfulness, emotional intelligence and critical thinking play an essential role in how people react to their environment and make decisions. These skills enable individuals to deal with uncertainty and change, build empathetic and collaborative relationships and actively participate in shaping a better society.
How are the IDGs integrated into the ReGen.rocks platform?
will focus on personal and social skills.
The Inner Development Goals (IDGs) are integrated by offering specific modules and interactive content.
Through practical exercises, projects and self-reflection, participants are helped to develop skills such as self-awareness, critical thinking and empathy. This inner development is integrated into the learning content on the SDGs to show how they can contribute to the successful implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Why does ReGen.rocks rely on project-based learning?
How is project-based learning integrated into ReGen.rocks?
On ReGen.rocks, learners and teachers not only find inspiration for their own projects, but also concrete support for their implementation. In the Connect area, they can network with like-minded people, mentors, other schools or organizations. In the Act area, they have access to helpful collaboration tools that support and strengthen them in the successful implementation of their projects.
What do the projects look like and how do they work?
The ReGen.rocks e-learning projects are designed to provide learners with both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills
required to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
One project could be, for example, a litter collection campaign at local bodies of water. In the lessons, the young people are informed about the topic of "life under water" and the importance of clean and healthy waters for the environment and their own lives. They are made aware of local and global problems and shown successful examples of marine conservation projects. With this foundation, they now become active themselves and, accompanied by a teacher, go with a group to a local body of water and free it from
plastic waste as far as they can.
