"Together we can create a world in which everyone has enough to eat, because with the food we waste globally alone, we could feed all 828 million starving people three times over."
Raphael Fellmer is an entrepreneur, climate activist, author and co-founder of the Berlin-based impact startup SIRPLUS with the vision Zero Waste For Zero Hunger. After setting up 7 SIRPLUS supermarkets, generating over 20 million in sales and a failed financing round, the food rescuer rescued SIRPLUS after its insolvency and built up the business model in a commercially sustainable way.The SIRPLUS online store gives surplus food and other products from producers a second chance and sells them at heavily discounted prices. Together with 150,000 customers, the Berlin start-up has already rescued 5 million kilograms of food and provided over 500,000 school meals in Africa.Raphael's vision is to create a world in which everyone has enough to eat. With SIRPLUS, he is bringing food rescue to the heart of society and promoting a greater appreciation of food in society, business and politics. He started out as a waste diver in 2009 and spent five years on a "money strike" to raise awareness of food waste and solutions for how everyone can simply live more sustainably and reduce their ecological footprint.
His career as a food rescuer began in 2009 as a garbage diver, he then made a journey without money from The Hague across Europe, Africa, the Atlantic to Brazil and up to Texas without money to create more awareness for the affluent society. After his return, Raphael initiated foodsharing, the largest European volunteer movement with more than 400,000 users who have already saved over 180 million kilograms of food in Austria, Switzerland and Germany. Through over 1000 media appearances, including Markus Lanz
